So thank-you to Genmar I.T for stepping in and providing this years RWD Dirt rod. We have a Volvo 960 2.7 to play with. Genmar I.T is run by Gary and his team they provide competitive I.T solutions in the Essex and Herts area and also has a computer repair shop in Bishops Stortford. They boast a small I.T museum in store which makes me feel a little nostalgic if not old if i'm honest.
We would also like to thank GK Motor Factors who have helped out with the cost of the Decals for the cars. They have a Facebook page. GK's provide a huge range of motoring requirements from OE quality car parts, paints, tools and also Decals. They are based in Witham High Street. Not only do they offer a superb service it's great to support a local business.

First time out in a RWD car your going to be nervous but when the flag goes down the tummy butterflies turn into brown adrenaline and you just go for it, And as it happens he drove a blinder.
Rather brave first race in a RWD turning it sideways with the o/s/f wheel almost lifting. Good job Mr.Gill.
MMM Liam Emma's coming and she just found out you borrowed her car. I knew nothing of this Personally I would start running mate.
This was meant to be a one meeting car but it survived it's first outing and came out fighting again this meeting. Maisie don't give cars a easy ride and this car can go to the Oval race track in the sky knowing it served her well.
Coming down the start finish straight three a breast it got a little tight, but I did cross the line on my roof so it still counts as a finish. Been awhile since I have been upside down. Tommy as always there to help.
Now for the rebuild nearside leg lower arm, steering tie rod, hub, brake hose, radiator, gearbox oil cooler, O and straighten rear sub frame almost a new car then. She'll go again but her days maybe numbered. Will go for an estate again as you can chuck them sideways more but a manual this time auto are just not fast enough out the corners.
Drew also rolled his Focus as did Baz 631 in his Astra.
We do race at the roll over capital of Banger racing to it is to be expected.
So we let Jenson out in the Volvo as he has had a shocker of a season so far not finishing one of his heats. Well he finished it and car was undamaged ish very ish but she still runs good. Did I mention his car caught fire as well I will try can get some snaps as soon as I can.
So I took Emma's Volvo out for a race what a car the engine and box are awesome quick up the straight hold gears well rev limiter kicks in just as you hit corner and back off. The only issue here is she keeps taking off!!! I've not had that much fun in a car for some time. I hope it's ok to use this photo Stephanie such a great shot.
Below are some in car video and a 100 or so shots we took this weekend. Our Focus is just not fast enough being a auto to make a serous challenge for points so we are just having fun at the moment even Lily has been out for a race.
Well last week she had a new engine this week he killed everything else, Flat out into the wall that'll do that to a Focus. She'll pull out i'm sure some work to do here then.
Fighting to gain a place from Liam Gill who turned up on fire this week very quick in his ikkle Pug Think he won this heat.
1st heat in the focus really need a new camera sound is out of sync thats a you tube issue
This is where Jenson puts his car into the wall to be fair he did have a helping hand.
Poor old Paul his arm must of been aching holding that yellow out for that long, At least he cant reach the black flag though.
A wet slidey reverse race lots of fun
Well all going well about 5 laps in moving my way up through the grid hit on the side and in a freak turn of events the steering rack split and lost its fluid but I finished race. I decided to retire car she is a new build and seems to be better than I expected a auto to be. She will make next meeting
Well Emma's first race out in the Volvo and first time out in a competitive race.
she did well finished two heats even after a coming together with another car which broke both engine mounting brackets and to avoid further damage we retired the car, but the car was running well and it was a big achievement to complete both races first time out in arguably the hardest formula.
Well what can I say, She has been fine running well until the first heat and boiled up on the start line. So he played safe pulled off and waited for race to finish let her cool down for the next heat. On his way to line up for that heat the engine dropped a big end bearing ruining his chances of racing.
So all in all a poor start for us this year and certainly not what we expected. But the cars will be repaired hopefully for next meeting and we will start over again. Racing is 95% pain and misery hard work sweat and tears the 5% pleasure and when that 5% comes it's the best feeling in the world. But for the first time in a while I got to watch some epic dirt track racing across all the formula's
Ford Focus estate 1.6 auto. This car was beyond economical repair so I purchased to race, Steering pump, pipes and switch had failed, these were salvaged and replaced from last years car. so our Blue bodywork (we like to call it Prime Racing Blue but Dulux have other ideas) and Salmon stripes. I will be starting near the rear with a blue roof.
Volvo 960 estate 2.7 6 cylinder auto RWD. This car was supplied by Genmar I.T in Stortford. Still our blue colour but with a green pair of stripes. This will be Emma's first time out in a competitive race. Starting small and working up then. Emma will be starting at the front with a white roof.
Ford Focus 1.6 manual hatch. This is Jenson's first race meeting. He will be turning 18 on the first meeting so building a car himself ground up is a great result. He will be racing with us so he has the blue body and his choice of orange stripes. He will be starting at the front with his white roof (I miss them days)
